How it was made

  1. The session is booked. Producer Cyril Darensbourg books time at The Box Studios for the trumpeter Patrick Smith.
  2. The music and the horns. The music is composed during the session so Patrick has something to play against. Patrick records trumpet, and Thomas Grant records trombone at The Box, before the singer has heard the track.
  3. The words and the voice. Aaniyah Anderson hears the track, writes to it, and records the lead vocal.
  4. Bass and guitar. After the vocals, Chris Severin adds electric bass and guitar.
  5. Mix and master. Aidan McFate mixes the song; Otis Curry Miller masters it.
