For four decades, Byron Jupiter has recorded, mixed, and produced the music of New Orleans. He works from Jupiter Music House in the city. The archive gathered here is a working record of his sessions, collaborators, hardware, and room notes.
An operating practice, measured
The room runs on a documented cadence: more than forty years on the board, over ten thousand session hours, more than a hundred and fifty collaborators, and four concurrent rooms. Each week brings three to five sessions; each month, twelve to twenty records; each quarter, one flagship release; each year, more than forty finished works.
The console is a listening post. Before a fader moves, the room, the artist, and the history of the record are heard.
From the foundational sessions of New Orleans HIP HOP to the rooms shaping the city’s next chapter, every record carries forward something that came before.
The work is to keep the lineage intact while leaving room for what has not yet been heard.
