By Byron Jupiter
Some mornings start with a plan. This one started with a prayer. It is short enough to say before the first call of the day, and it asks for the things the work actually needs: clear sight, a good word, and a steady hand.
Lord, thank You for this morning and the breath to meet it.
Give me clear eyes to see who stands with me and who only stands near me. Let me hold my cards close and my heart open. Where others moved against me, let me move forward without carrying them.
Keep my hands steady in the work, my word good, and my purpose clear. Let me do well by doing good, and let what I build outlast what was aimed at me.
Amen.
Questions and Answers
What is this prayer asking for?
Gratitude for a new day, the judgment to tell real allies from people who are only nearby, discretion with an open heart, the strength to move on without carrying old wrongs, and steady, honest work.
What does “do well by doing good” mean?
It means success that comes from doing right by people, not in spite of it. It is the mission Byron Jupiter holds for his work at The Box Studios and across repeatable.press.
How can I use this prayer?
Say it at the start of the day or before a hard meeting or session. Read it slowly, and change the words to fit what you are facing.
