Robin Barnes, “The Songbird of New Orleans,” is an award-winning vocalist, songwriter and Louisiana State Music Ambassador from the Lower Ninth Ward. Her debut full-length album, Louisiana Love, came out May 1, 2026, and she performs mid-parade on Louisiana’s float at the 2027 Rose Parade on January 1.

Roots and background

Barnes is a ninth-generation Louisianian, raised in the Lower Ninth Ward around gospel, jazz, funk, R&B, second-line and Creole culture. She grew up in a family of musicians that includes Dave Bartholomew, and started singing at 6 in her church choir.
